Incoloy 825 Coils: Stress-Corrosion Crack Resistance and Excellent Fabricability

    Product Overview

Incoloy 825 Coils are solid-solution-strengthened nickel-iron-chromium-molybdenum-copper-titanium alloys formulated to excel where both high-temperature stability and corrosion resistance are essential. Their optimized chemistry—38–46 % Ni, 21–28 % Fe, 19.5–23.5 % Cr, 2.5–3.5 % Mo, 1.5–3 % Cu, 0.6–1.2 % Ti, and 0.2–0.8 % Al—provides tensile strengths ≥ 760 MPa and elongation ≥ 30 % after annealing, without relying on precipitation hardening. These coils maintain mechanical integrity from cryogenic temperatures up to 816 °C in continuous service and up to 982 °C intermittently, exhibiting outstanding resistance to oxidation, carburization, and chloride-stress-corrosion cracking in both oxidizing and reducing atmospheres. Their high Cr and Al contents form protective chromia/alumina scales, while Cu and Ti guard against pitting and crevice attacks in sulfuric, phosphoric, and hydrochloric acid environments. Excellent formability (stamping, slitting, fine-blanking) and weldability (TIG/GTAW, electron-beam) allow fabrication of diaphragms, bellows, springs, and heat-exchanger fins with minimal post-weld treatment. Coils are supplied in thicknesses from 0.1 mm to 5 mm and widths up to 1.2 m, per ASTM B424/ASME SB-424, ASTM B425/ASME SB-425, AMS 5599, and NACE MR0175 requirements.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: Why select Incoloy 825 Coils for acidic environments?
Their high Mo and Cu content enhances resistance to reducing acids (sulfuric, phosphoric), while Cr and Ni protect against oxidizing media and chloride stress-corrosion cracking.

Q2: What temperature range can Incoloy 825 Coils handle?
Continuous service up to 816 °C (1500 °F), intermittent exposures to 982 °C (1800 °F), with stable mechanical and corrosion performance across this range.

Q3: Are Incoloy 825 Coils weldable and formable?
Yes—TIG/GTAW and electron-beam welding produce sound joints; excellent ductility (elongation ≥ 30 %) allows stamping, slitting, and fine-blanking with minimal springback.
