Incoloy 825 Plates: Solid-Solution Alloy and Marine and Chemical Service

    Product Overview

Incoloy 825 Plates are wrought, nickel-iron-chromium-molybdenum-copper-titanium alloys designed to withstand continuous exposures up to 816 °C (1500 °F) and intermittent 982 °C (1800 °F) while resisting oxidation, carburization, and chloride stress-corrosion cracking. Their solid-solution strengthening—driven by 2.5–3.5 % molybdenum and 1.5–3 % copper—avoids precipitation aging and stabilizes mechanical properties from cryogenic service to high temperatures, delivering tensile strengths ≥ 760 MPa and elongations ≥ 30 % in the annealed condition. Chromium levels of 19.5–23.5 % and titanium additions form protective chromia and alumina scales, conferring resistance to nitric, sulfuric, and phosphoric acids, as well as to oxidative salt atmospheres . These plates are specified in ASTM B424/B424M for plate and sheet; AMS 5599; and meet ISO 15156-3/NACE MR0175 sour-service requirements, making them indispensable for acid production, oil & gas well piping, and nuclear fuel reprocessing equipment. Exceptional formability and weldability (TIG/GTAW, electron-beam) support complex panel fabrication, reducing assembly time and maximizing reliability across South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas.

    • Oil & Gas: Well-piping panels, acid-production vessels, corrosion-resistant cladding

    • Marine & Offshore: Seawater condenser panels, subsea manifold liners

    • Power Generation: Gas-turbine ducting, combustion-chamber panels

    • Nuclear: Fuel-reprocessing equipment, radioactive-waste handling trays

    Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: Why choose Incoloy 825 Plates for corrosive environments?
A1: High molybdenum and copper enhance resistance to reducing acids (sulfuric, phosphoric), while chromium and nickel protect against oxidizing media and chloride stress-corrosion cracking.

Q2: Can Incoloy 825 Plates be welded without sensitization?
A2: Yes—titanium additions stabilize against intergranular attack, and TIG/GTAW or EB welding followed by minimal heat treatment preserves alloy integrity.

Q3: What is the maximum service temperature?
A3: Continuous service up to 816 °C (1500 °F), intermittent to 982 °C (1800 °F), with stable mechanical and corrosion performance across this range.
