Corrosion Resistant Alloy Incoloy 825 Strip For Extreme Environments

Incoloy 825 Strips: Corrosion-Resistant Alloy for Extreme Environments

    Product Overview

Incoloy 825 Strips (UNS N08825) are precision-rolled nickel-iron-chromium-molybdenum-copper-titanium alloy strips designed for demanding high-temperature and corrosive environments. These strips combine solid-solution strengthening with a balanced chemical makeup to deliver tensile strengths up to 760 MPa and elongation above 30 % in the annealed condition. They resist both oxidizing and reducing acids, chloride stress-corrosion cracking, pitting, and intergranular attack, thanks to high levels of chromium and molybdenum plus copper and titanium additions. Service temperatures extend from cryogenic limits up to 816 °C continuously, with intermittent exposure to 982 °C, while maintaining oxidation and carburization resistance via protective chromia and alumina scales. Excellent ductility (elongation ≥ 30 %), weldability (TIG/GTAW, EB), and formability support stamping, slitting, fine-blanking, and coining for complex components like diaphragms, bellows, springs, and heat-exchanger fins. Conforming to ASTM B425/B424 (strip/foil), AMS 5599, and ISO 15156-3/NACE MR0175, Incoloy 825 Strips ensure global interchangeability and sour-service compatibility across chemical-processing, petrochemical, marine, power-generation, and nuclear industries.

    Applications

Incoloy 825 Strips are employed in:

    • Chemical Processing: Reactors, heat-exchanger fins, bubbling caps in sulfuric and phosphoric acid service

    • Petrochemical: Ammonia reformer coils, hydroprocessing equipment

    • Marine & Offshore: Flare stack liners, subsea tubing, condenser fins

    • Power Generation: Gas-turbine transition ducts, combustion liners, heat-exchanger panels

    • Nuclear: Acid-handling components, fuel-reprocessing hardware

    Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: Why choose Incoloy 825 Strips for acidic environments?
A1: Their high molybdenum and copper content enhances resistance to reducing acids (sulfuric, phosphoric), while chromium and nickel protect against oxidizing media and chloride stress-corrosion cracking.

Q2: What temperature range can Incoloy 825 Strips handle?
A2: Continuous service up to 816 °C, intermittent exposures to 982 °C, with stable mechanical and corrosion performance across this range.

Q3: Are Incoloy 825 Strips weldable and formable?
A3: Yes—weldable by TIG/GTAW and electron beam with minimal post-weld treatment; excellent ductility (elongation ≥ 30 %) supports stamping, slitting, and fine-blanking.
